My sculptures are the results of an ongoing exploration with my creative medium cast glass. A fascination for the luminous qualities of glass was ignited during a visit to the Australian opal fields. Subsequently I adapted the lost wax casting process to kiln formed glass. During casting glass becomes fluid and solidifies while cooling. Fluidity is caught in a moment and transformed into petrified fluid. With the figurations of the human form I am exploring the embodiment of fluidity and the nature of water. While glass resembles water, my sculptures become carriers of memory and meanings associated with oceanic feelings.
The present focus on the journey with my creative medium is situated on the borderline between the exterior outlines of the sculpture and a translucent fluid internal world. Resembling a sensation of something limitless, a feeling of indissoluble connection of belonging to the world as a whole, where all living matter is a sensitive web of mutual receptivity and interconnectedness. Notions of interrelating, transforming, becoming and evolving are interwoven in my ongoing creative process.
