Karyn Fendley
Karyn Fendley draws inspiration from the natural world, whether the minutiae of her environment, or an aerial view. Raised in Brisbane and currently based in Northern NSW, her recent landscape paintings offer a fresh look at the landscape genre and convey a feeling of space that is evocative of the Australian landscape.
Karyn's paintings explore the connection between landscape, memory and the subconscious. Her landscapes capture the atmosphere of place, rather than detailing any specific view. She uses a blend of traditional and new media and has recently been experimenting with introducing digital imagery into her work.
She studied art at QCA in Brisbane in 1989 and has been exhibiting since 1993. She relocated to the north coast in 1995 and joined the Byron Artisans Collective, and in 2001 she cofounded PAN Professional Artists Network. She has exhibited in Byron Bay, Ballina, Coffs Harbour, Brisbane, Melbourne and Florence and her works are housed in public and private collections worldwide.
