I am captivated by the wonderful light and colour we have in this part of the world.... I surf and enjoy our clean,clear ocean and am constantly challenged to capture that feeling of sunshine and warmth on canvas. Whatever the subject, I am drawn to express it by exaggerating colour and contrast but keeping the subject real enough for the viewer to relate to it without having to work at it - I'm not ashamed for my artwork to be something lovely to look at but hope that it is more - that it connects and reminds the viewer of a long lost summer day at the beach or a distant youth or a memory of warmth and peace. My aim is to instil sunshine where there is none. I am growing and feel myself evolving as an artist. I am beginning a new part of my painting life and am excited that this coming year - I will be driven by my soul more than my heart and eyes, it is telling me so and I'm no longer afraid to let it happen. I hope you will be as eager(as me) to see the results!
